our color palettes & stories: a look back at a wonderful year

Time is flying!  We totally missed our one year anniversary of the blog we were so engrossed in our stories! Last year on April 9th our first post went up. It was one of my favorite color palettes of black, peach and pink (pictured below). Here is the link to read the full post. But soon after we posted this rich color palette of pinks (pictured above) from famous baker Ron Ben-Israel‘s sugar flowers. Yes, I said SUGAR flowers. Those flowers are hand crafted out of sugar by Ron. I worked with Ron on many cake stories for Weddings magazines and these peonies still just take my breath away. Ron not only has a very successful cake business but he now has his own show on the Food Network called Sweet Genius.

A lot of very talented people have contributed on the blog this past year, like celebrity caterer, Peter Callahan. His miniature creations are so creative! One of our favorite ideas from him are these hollowed out lemons with vodka and lemonade with lemon candy sticks. Of course talented florists, Michael George and Matthew Robbins also contributed this year. Just type in any of these contributors’ names in the search box above and their posts will appear. Photographers, John Dolan, Holger ThossPhilippe Cheng and Liz Banfield contributed real weddings, their latest projects and their advice. One of our most popular posts was by Liz Banfiled entitled Keeping the Art of Black and White Film Photography Alive.

We went behind the scenes with Talbot’sa chocolate factory and a candle factory…we were introduced to amazing artists like Kaminer HaslipGail Brill and Bonnie Hoye.  We even had a week long of Love Stories and for Valentine’s. We featured my own bath and kitchen that appeared in House Beautiful magazine’s “Bath of the Month” and “Kitchen of the Month”.  I could spend all day recounting a colorful and inspirational year, but I hope you’ll click on a few of these links and read the posts for yourself.

We haven’t changed the format too much over the past year; We’re still posting Monday thru Friday and introducing a different color palette each Monday. Now we include Benjmain Moore Paint colors to the color palette as guide for you to execute the palette if you chose. Seach “color palette” for all 57 color palettes (so far).  See if there is one that is your favorite.  Tuesday we talk about tabletop, Wednesday we talk about weddings & celebrations, Thursdays, interiors or interviews and Fridays either shopping picks or recipes (like the delicious recipes from TV personality and entertaining expert Victoria Amory). All of these follow the color palette introduced that week. We hope you continue to follow along and please leave your comments and suggestions! We would love to hear what you like and what you want to see more of, or let us know what your favorite post has been so far.

Please follow me on Twitter and our Facebook page! If you’d like to know more about me you can read my bio here. Thank you so much for a wonderful year and hopefully to many, many more. – Lynn Butler Beling, Founder and Creative Director, Little Blue Dish Blog & Shop.
