2 in 1: glass vase place card holders for your table setting under $3 each

I love browsing through the site save-on-crafts.com and finding great products like this glass place card holder. The holder has a hole in the top for your flowers and a slit in the front for your place card. This is wonderful for any season or holiday- tulips at each setting for spring… a pine branch for winter… the possibilities are endless. They are currently on sale for about $2.75 each and come in sets of 8. -Lynn Butler Beling (calligraphy courtesy Gail Brill Design)

this week’s color palette: fall greens and wispy pink

When we think of fall, I think we all lean towards rust colors, browns and golden hues but with summer not officially over for another week or so greens are still so fresh. Michael George Flowers has beautiful greens available this week like these white anemones (with a touch of pink), green hydrangea and ornithogalum. Green spider mums, autumn hydrangea with roses and kale (pictured below) are a few more options for a beautiful fall arrangement. Benjamin Moore paint colors for this palette are from top to bottom: Wispy Pink 2005-70, Handmade Paper CSP-875, Green Thumb CSP-870 and Chimichurri … Read more

weddings: marrying your style to your location- here are our tips for a happy union

Sometimes trying to decide on the decor of a location for a celebration can be very tricky. The obvious is have the decor mirror the design aesthetic of the building but the location might not represent your style 100%. Here is an great example of a modern location but with natural branches as centerpieces- the opposite of what you might expect.  By keeping the centerpieces all the same and all the table decor in a neutral color palette the execution is more modern in feel but the organic silhouette of the branches softens the modernity of the space. Simple hurricanes … Read more

this week’s color palette: end of summer hydrangeas

This picture does not do the color of these hydrangeas justice. A combination of deep deep greens, a pale violet-blue, gray-blues and a bit of pale browns where the sun has burnt the edges make up this amazing color palette. Against an aged cedar shingled home with deep green trim- it is absolutely beautiful. This is one that I just stood back and was amazed at the different changing colors in nature. This is a gorgeous palette to start with for the exterior of a home or an interior of a home and/or a garden. This is also a sophisticated … Read more

Whether you are looking for a location for your wedding or for any private event you might want to check out this estate. The vines are so meticulous and the grounds transport you to another world- like you might even be in europe. Large wood doors from Germany, huge stone urns with flowers billowing over, wood beams and iron chandeliers come together for a unique design aesthetic which was the vision of the late Christian Wolffer. anemone bouquet

It is a nice idea to incorporate the same flower (or flowers) in your bouquet into the design of your cake or vise versa. This anemone bouquet I styled for Martha Stewart Weddings would make a wonderful compliment to the anemone cakes I posted. (Bouquet flowers by Matthew Robbins) Lynn’s TIP: having a color palette decided on in the beginning of your wedding planning process (or any celebration for that matter) is a great place to start. This will narrow down your decision making process when you are faced with thousands of choices. Black, peach, pale pink and … Read more
