red, white and blue: 4th of July picnic details

This year I have a lobster theme threaded through my 4th of July picnic. But this color palette and the following details can really work all summer long- for any party.  I found these paper lobster placemats (pictured above) from Carrot and Stick Press, and fun lobster lollipops from Ju-C Suckers, (minimum 12, and they come in lots of different flavors, I selected their ‘bay breeze’ flavor). I added the red, white and blue ribbon to each one. Watermelon wedges soaked in a little vodka (pictured below) and served with flag picks are refreshing shooters for the adults. Old fashioned paper popcorn boxes filled with Smartfood popcorn are fun, easy snacks for kids and adults. A cooler filled with Coca-Cola and red and white paper striped straws add to the festive spirit.

Red and white plaid paper baskets allow easy serving and carrying for lobster rolls, hotdogs, burgers and chips for lunch.  Lobster and rope themed napkins called ‘Fresh Catch” from Caspari keep the lobster theme going.

Red and white check paper cone sleeves are filled with everything you need to make s’mores at the outdoor firepit  (they are also great for filling with fries or chips for easy serving) and they are displayed in a vintage cone holder I found at a recent antiques show. White and blue cotton dishtowels from Ikea add in a little more blue and white and make great small little runners under food stations.
