tropical and citrus wedding details

We loved this wedding from Southern Weddings, photographed by KT Merry. Our palette of pinks and greens has a bit of ‘rust’ in the palette this week… which you could tweak to be a bit more orange to make a fun tropical color palette. Shot on location at the Boca Raton Restort & Club in Florida, we certainly don’t mind dreaming of warmer days under palm trees.

this week’s color palette: spring greens, pinks and a bit of rust

What can I say besides I think everyone is more than ready for spring to arrive. We had another palette ready for you but after this morning’s snow we decided on this palette inspired by peonies instead. We love the shades of green with the pinks and we drew the rust from the color of the pollen which seems to elevate the palette just a bit. All paint colors are from Benjamin Moore.

A dream wedding in France, The Marriage of Megan Schuster and Thomas Brodsky

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with a beautiful and magical wedding. This marriage story actually began when Megan and Thomas were young. Megan and Thomas grew up right across the street from each other on 79th Street in Manhattan. Fast forward and Thomas proposed to Megan by waking her one morning a few days before her birthday with a 9 week old puppy that had a diamond ring on a ribbon tied around it’s neck. And if that’s not romantic enough, they chose the wedding to take place at ‘the most beautiful place we have ever been in … Read more

temporary decorating solutions for walls

Whether you are renting a space that you can’t do anything to the walls or your child needs a visual lift to their dorm room there are a few temporary decorating solutions that you may want to explore. One is a trick I did on photo shoot sets. Take a 4′ x 8′ piece of Gator Board (which is more sturdy than foam core) and wallpaper it. Then lean it up against your wall or behind a piece of furniture (like you see above). Wallpaper several boards for a larger effect. Gator Board also comes in 4′ x 12′ if … Read more

this week’s color palette: reds, peach and burgundy

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I think we all gravitate to reds for flowers and wrapping. You can make a red palette a bit more sophisticated by layering in shades of peach and burgundy and even violet. If you are planning on decorating a room though in this palette we found a great example in this nursery of using pattern and multiple colors within the main palette. Above are our selections for paint in this color palette from Benjamin Moore.

a pink lady cocktail

We loved this “Charleston Pink Lady Cocktail” via Return to Sunday Supper. If you want to cut to he chase and just see the recipe, here it is. This would be a nice cocktail for a bridal shower, Valentine’s day party, birthday party… any celebration where pink is the color palette!

bold patterns are perfect for a pink & green palette

Monday I mentioned if you go with a pink and green color palette, it is just one of those color combinations that it seems like you go bold, or go home. Bold patterned fabrics and wallpapers lend themselves to bright green and bring a room to life. Pair those with pink and wow! What a statement. Here are a few examples of how these two colors can work in a room. It’s certainly inspiring us here in the office this week for some spring and summer decorating projects by the beach.  Would you like to do a room in pink … Read more

jen huang photography & her gorgeous blog

Although I have worked with many photographers that we have featured here on my blog, there are of course so many great photographers out there that I haven’t worked with and there is one lately I keep coming back to- Jen Huang. I love her style and that she can capture both the details, the essence of a location and the people (not so many photographers are good at both). Her main site has a handful of featured weddings and celebrations so you can see her overall style, but I love her blog. She posts many more shots there … Read more

monograms off madison, I’m loving this store

A few years ago a friend of mine took me to a new store called Monograms Off Madison, located in a beautiful old townhouse off Madison Avenue on 93rd Street in New York City, and I loved it! I recently went back and they have even more fun things for kids and wonderful gifts for men, women and the home. Although they don’t offer very many things online, if you are in New York it’s worth the trip up town to see this shop. There of course are lots of pink and green and preppy items like tote bags, … Read more
