temporary decorating solutions for walls

Whether you are renting a space that you can’t do anything to the walls or your child needs a visual lift to their dorm room there are a few temporary decorating solutions that you may want to explore. One is a trick I did on photo shoot sets. Take a 4′ x 8′ piece of Gator Board (which is more sturdy than foam core) and wallpaper it. Then lean it up against your wall or behind a piece of furniture (like you see above). Wallpaper several boards for a larger effect. Gator Board also comes in 4′ x 12′ if … Read more

green and white patterned wallpaper paired with pink, we love it

We have always loved this photo… and this wallpaper. Our friend Davida was nice enough to write in and let us know it is a Manuel Canovas paper called Trellis. It comes in several color ways but we love the green and white. Do you have wallpaper in your home? If so, where? A feature wall, a small room like a powder room? or a big statement room? We’d love to hear from you!

wallpaper without the commitment

I’ve been wanting to wallpaper a focus wall behind the bed in a guest room but I haven’t been able to commit to a pattern. Temporary wallpaper, that is similar to a wall decal, could be just the answer since I’m not 100% sure. Tempaper, self adhesive, repositionable, temporary wallpaper has several designs to choose from. I selected a few in this week’s color palette, but they have many colors available. Trove Wallpaper, by Jee Levin and Randall Buck

Trove, founded in 2006, has risen quickly with many awards under their belt already as well as two patterns being included in the permanent collection at Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum. Trove pushes the limits of scale and repeat with most patterns 12 feet high and 3-6 feet across. They mix traditionally recognized design elements with non-traditional application and eco-friendly materials. One of their newest patterns is called “August” (featured above). As part of Trove’s science inspired Spring 2012 Collection, the August pattern portrays past queens from Denmark, Japan, Romania, Italy, Greece, Prussia and India. Though the queens have their … Read more

The beverly hills hotel’s famous wallpaper

This iconic wallpaper was made famous by the Beverly Hills Hotel and it still adorns the diner and hallways there. Called ‘Martinque’ (by Donghia), it was created in the early 1940’s and used for the refurbishment of the hotel. Combined with pink accents and green and white stripes throughout the hotel, it’s an old-school application of the quintessential color palette. You gotta love it! Designers like Nate Berkus (photo below left, by simon upton for Elle Decor) and celebrities like Paris Hilton have recently used this pattern in homes. It has also showed up in fashion this spring, like … Read more
