color palette: blue, orange and white

Who doesn’t miss House & Garden magazine? This February 2007 issue showcased this bold outdoor space that landscape architect Steve Martino designed for his client’s house in Palm Springs. (photographed by Raimund Koch) This plaster-coated wall is painted in Frazee’s Spiced Rum. It’s an orange with a lot of red in it. Visit Mr. Martino’s website for more color inspiration for your outdoor space. We’re seeing a lot of this palette this year, especially sprinkled in fashion but also in home accessories. Pantone 2012 color of the year is “Tangerine Tango” if you hadn’t heard. Everyone from Marc Jacobs to West Elm has this color palette somewhere in their collections for Spring 2012. I’m loving my recent Madison Avenue find of Joe Fresh. An inexpensive line of clothing and beauty by Joe Mimram. His “mac” coat that you see here is only $29!

Clockwise:  Junya Wantanbe Comme des Garçons side slit dress, $725, from Barney’s. Marc Jacobs shift dress, $348, and Rag & Bone jeans, $187, both from Bergdorf Goodman.  Sperry topsiders for men, $100, from Barney’s.  Elephant Ceramics vases for West Elm, $19-39.

Also- if you happened to see the Wall Street Journal yesterday they showcased orange bracelets by Balenciaga, an orange-red bag by Delvaux and a dress by Marni. Writer Lesley M.M. Blume wrote this article about how designers are using polymer (and color). read article.
