Our color palette this week is a lavender/mauve shade with a honey hue. Figs might not come to mind right away when you say that color palette aloud, but look at their beautiful colors. We love this “neutral” seating card idea. Sand and creams are a gorgeous color palette for a wedding or celebration and these creative messages in a bottle will be sure to make your guests smile. On the outside, the guests names and on the opposite side of the paper, the table number. Just make sure the guests’ names are visible and it’s best to put them in alphabetical order so they can easily find their name. This can also work for a small gathering as well like you see in the photo above. For a large event, glass or lucite … Read more

This week we’ll revisit black and white with neutrals like brown (maybe in a dark brown floor for example). Above are feathers from the local flower store. These are a great quick decorating detail for Thanksgiving. Pop a few clusters in a small bowl or glass vase and tuck in between your pumpkins and gourds or just alone on your bar or desk for a fall accent.
One of the best things about working in the design industry is meeting such creative people, like Nevena Christi of Rocketbuster Boots. Nevena and I worked at Nicole Miller together for a short time and Nevena certainly made an impression on me. I remember one of my first days on the job, Nevena had decorated Nicole’s office for her birthday with about 100 potato chip bags hanging from the ceiling and the design team would just reach up and grab a bag as they worked into the wee hours on a new collection. Margaritas sent in from Virgil’s and … Read more
We did this simple idea a lot for holidays and weddings at Martha Stewart. Take your favorite (flat) chocolate bar and cover with a beautiful paper or wrapping paper and secure with double stick tape. To personalize, add a simple label with each guests’ name. Hershey bars are an easy choice but I love my friend Jessica’s chocolate company Woodblock Chocolate, chocolates handmade by her and her husband. (see our behind the scenes post visiting their factory) You can find labels like these at Staples stores and online and search the internet for free clip art to print … Read more
