weddings: down south with seersucker details

A beautifully executed wedding by planner Tara Guerard and photographed by Liz Banfield. Using seersucker tablecloths makes the wedding feel a bit more relaxed under an open sided tent, but the chandelier drums, fabric draped tent and gray carpeted floor let guests know this is a very elegant southern wedding. The subtle seersucker touches carry from the programs through to the reception. Additional printing details like the flower menu card mix things up a bit with the clever calligraphed leaf attached as place cards. Tara worked together with The Lettered Olive for all the printing. decorating with coral/peach, pink & yellow

The exclusive residential community and club, The Lyford Cay Club, was recently re-done by Tom Scheerer (photograph by Pieter Estersohn). The layering of coral/peach with pink and accents of yellow is great example of how to pull this week’s color palette together. Visit Mr. Scheerer’s site to see his residential projects for so many inspirational decorating ideas! He uses a lot of striped and patterned rugs in his rooms and layers colors expertly.

Peter of Peter Callahan Catering has shared with us a whimsical cocktail for summer entertaining…the bubblegum-tini! Peter is known for his creative presentation and this is a great example. Peter fills his signature lucite trays with orange/coral, pink, yellow and white bubblegum balls to bring whimsy and creativity to serve this fun cocktail. (see recipe below) A colorful signature cocktail is an easy way to keep your wedding color palette going through the cocktail hour. color palette: coral/peach, pink, & yellow

I’ve been seeing the color palette of coral combined with a pale pink here and there. Some coral’s are deeper and some a little softer. I’ve also been seeing this color palette with a touch, or an accent of yellow. It’s a very beautiful combination I think. It’s very sophisticated and feminine- but I think the addition of yellow makes it stronger, bolder and and more vibrant.

The beverly hills hotel’s famous wallpaper

This iconic wallpaper was made famous by the Beverly Hills Hotel and it still adorns the diner and hallways there. Called ‘Martinque’ (by Donghia), it was created in the early 1940’s and used for the refurbishment of the hotel. Combined with pink accents and green and white stripes throughout the hotel, it’s an old-school application of the quintessential color palette. You gotta love it! Designers like Nate Berkus (photo below left, by simon upton for Elle Decor) and celebrities like Paris Hilton have recently used this pattern in homes. It has also showed up in fashion this spring, like … Read more

Pink & Green: the wedding of Laura & Tory Patterson

This gorgeous late summer wedding in Napa was designed by Isabella Sikaffy of Florabella Weddings and photographed by Liz Banfield. This application of the pink and green color palette is such a great example of understated chic. I love the simple wreaths with pink ribbons as bride and groom chair decorations and the overall table settings (see photo below) are just beautiful. Combining topiaries for the ‘green’ and white, cream and pink flowers interspersed down the long rectangular tables is so appropriate for an outdoor garden reception. I’ve been loving these long rectangular tables outside in a garden with the … Read more

recycled glass bottles- a simple floral centerpiece idea from lotte & bloom

I stumbled upon this amazing floral design company, Lotte & Bloom, owned by Lotte Lawson and based in Glasgow, Scotland.  Lotte & Bloom is a floral and event design studio that specializes in weddings.  I really liked Lotte’s aesthetic. Check out her site to see samples of some of her work. This (photo above ) is a great idea for a spring or summer centerpiece. Save your glass bottles in different heights and sizes and group together in the center of a round table or down the center of a rectangular table, then just add stems of your favorite … Read more
