periwinkle wedding details, something blue

I know many brides have trouble fitting in that ‘something blue’, especially when they might not have blue in their color palette. But here are a few ideas to get that blue in your wedding. Above, periwinkle blue tulle. You can buy tulle at your local fabric store and have a local seamstress make a simple crinoline for under your dress. Below, embroider your 3 letter initials on your bouquet ribbon (your initial on the left, the last name in the middle and his initial on the right) or have the inside of your dress embroidered with your date and … Read more

nautical and rope wedding details

Again our inspirational photo from Monday’s post is influencing us. We love these nautical and rope inspired wedding details, like this cake with a sugar rope detail at it’s base or these oars that act as menu displays. Knot table and place cards from Karensweddingshop via Etsy.com Use a boat as a cooler for drinks. Most rental companies have unique props like this, it’s worth it to actually go to the rental company and look around at what they have. These type of one-of-a-kind items are not always on their website. Rope chair markers for the bride and groom, … Read more

tropical and citrus wedding details

We loved this wedding from Southern Weddings, photographed by KT Merry. Our palette of pinks and greens has a bit of ‘rust’ in the palette this week… which you could tweak to be a bit more orange to make a fun tropical color palette. Shot on location at the Boca Raton Restort & Club in Florida, we certainly don’t mind dreaming of warmer days under palm trees.

country inspired wedding details

A sure way to make your wedding celebration (or any party for that matter) memorable is to take the time to infuse some of your interests or background into the event. Even if you are having a black tie reception in the city it doesn’t mean you can’t bring in a few unique details to personalize it, even if it’s a bit of country (or vise versa). We love these Mini Mason Jar Shot Glasses that can also be personalized from HomeWetBar.com, set of 4, $12.95. Directing your guests is always a good idea for any event, whether with … Read more

A dream wedding in France, The Marriage of Megan Schuster and Thomas Brodsky

What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with a beautiful and magical wedding. This marriage story actually began when Megan and Thomas were young. Megan and Thomas grew up right across the street from each other on 79th Street in Manhattan. Fast forward and Thomas proposed to Megan by waking her one morning a few days before her birthday with a 9 week old puppy that had a diamond ring on a ribbon tied around it’s neck. And if that’s not romantic enough, they chose the wedding to take place at ‘the most beautiful place we have ever been in … Read more

can’t find inspiration for your wedding or party? browse a fabric store

If you are just overwhelmed at the possibilities for your wedding or holiday celebrations, take a break and head to your local fabric store. Browse the fabrics and you might just be inspired by a pattern, a color or a design. For weddings, even taking a cue from your wedding dress fabric can inspire a cake design like you see above. My longtime friend and collaborator, Ron Ben-Israel designed the cake above from a lace. Pull out a flower from the centerpieces or several types of flowers to adorn your cake as well, like these sugar orchids. (Ron is … Read more

a wedding color palette of reds and neutrals (and a perfect palette for the upcoming holidays too)

This week’s color palette of reds and neutrals is beautiful for a wedding. There are  so many red flowers to choose from and foliage and berries to weave into bouquets and centerpieces. We pulled inspiration for you to get you started. And don’t forget wedding magazines and books are sometimes the best place to start to get ideas for your fall parties or holiday celebration decor. We love the books by Tara Guerard, Michael George, Matthew Robbins and Martha Stewart. Bouquet Image above via Taylored Events. Take cues from this floral combination for a gorgeous holiday centerpiece. These flowers in … Read more

budgets can sometimes make you think outside the…cup

This creative couple certainly thought outside the box with their reception decorations. Using coffee filters they dipped them in water color paint and made them into garlands that draped over their reception tables. Sometimes a budget can make you look for alternate, more affordable options. If you love this idea but really don’t have the time check out etsy.com for some more handmade options. This is a great idea too for birthday parties or other celebrations. Our stylist tip though is to make sure you have enough garland to really make an impact. This garland would not have the … Read more
