Adding red, white and blue in a few unexpected ways can really bring in a more festive feel to your 4th of July celebration. Red, white and blue ribbons to hang lanterns is a great idea (notice these ribbons are polka dot). You could also hang paper stars in different sizes from the ribbons or paper lanterns. Varying the height and size of the stars or lanterns could also add more visual interest. Jamali Garden has sest of 4 white mini lanterns for $15. weddings with matthew robbins: there’s a wonderful boldness that happens when you allow green to be paired with crisp white

This ultrarefined palette of green and white is fresh. You’ll be amazed at how much we can do with a seemingly limited range of tones. There’s a wonderful boldness that happens when you allow green, which normally finds itself in a supporting role, to be paired with crisp whites. I’m rather obsessed with the green and white color palette. It can be challenging to work within an extremely tight palette like this, but in general it forces you to be more creative and to dig a little deeper that you would have otherwise. This palette can work just about anywhere, … Read more

weddings with matthew robbins: bring a welcoming, friendlier edge to vibrant red by pairing it with light tones & accents

“Red is often a color we all shy away from or we completely embrace. There isn’t much compromise when it comes to this vibrant color. I love red tones but don’t always enjoy going the typical route of pairing red with other jewel tones. A great way to bring a welcoming, friendlier edge to this intense color is to pair it with softer, lighter tones and accents as I did here. Instead of a deep, rich table linen I chose a textured, golden wheat tone. The dinner napkins were also an elegant golden yellow tone and even the votive candles … Read more

this week’s color palette: blues, silver & white

A few weeks ago I wrote about the color palette of my beach house- which is all blues and whites. So needless to say decorating for Christmas in blues, silver and white is a favorite color palette of mine. Whether you have a real tree or a faux tree this palette is soothing and wintery and can go country or city chic. I have a faux white Christmas tree that I love to decorate in blue and silver, but we also get a real tree too every year and decorate that in our heirloom wooden and traditional ornaments.  I’ve been … Read more

burlap wedding details

We were loving burlap as a tablecloth and runner so much for Thanksgiving, we thought we’d see what kind of burlap items were available for weddings and celebrations. Of course burlap usually lends itself to a casual or rustic style wedding and you don’t want to cover everything in burlap, just select a few details to be used throughout your event. Lynn has several rustic wedding inspiration photos on her Pinterest “weddings” board you might like.  (follow Lynn on Pinterest!
